Protecting our Members
Secures Wyoming's Future
What We Do
Wyoming Public Employee Association is the voice of our members, Wyoming state employees and the classified staff of LCSD#1. We ensure our members and partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals to join forces and be heard to improve the quality of life for our state, communities and neighbors.
MEMBER REPRESENTATION
Who is in your corner?
Have you ever felt like, when a new supervisor arrives, you suddenly went from being a top-performer to the bottom of the batch when your performance hasn't changed? Ever get told something at work and you can't possibly believe that can be right? We can help by confidentially advising you of the rules and your rights and often can let you know if what didn't feel quite right was, in fact, an issue to be concerned about or not. We are happy to take your call.
If you do get called to a meeting where discipline is a possibility, as a member you are entitled to have us present in the meeting to represent you. The WPEA stands ready to provide assistance and legal aid to individual members in labor-related matters consistent with WPEA Board policy. Most workers do not have the knowledge, experience, time, or money to pursue a grievance adequately. WPEA is there to "go to bat" for members, complete with one of the finest legal counsels available, without cost to members. Each year the Association handles dozens of formal and informal grievances, plus numerous less serious problems. Grievance assistance is similar to insurance: the value is not apparent until you really need it.
EDUCATION, OUTREACH AND LOBBYING
Wyoming Public Employee Association is proud to support and push for change throughout the legislative landscape. Wages, Retirement, State budgets, health insurance and working conditions. All are very serious issues that impact our members and all Wyoming State and LCSD #1 employees. Together with our members and partners, we can often rally the support and resources needed to make change a reality. Many lawmakers haven't heard from or understand the issues facing public employees -- a little information and bit of education are usually all they need to make better choices for our members.
But we don't stop there. We have a voluntary Political Action Committee (PAC) run by our member to endorse and help elect leaders that support Public Employees. We are a constant presence at Wyoming Retirement System Board meetings and the State Compensation Commission meetings. We have a seat at the table representing employees during personnel rule-making and PMI redesign meetings. If you would like to find out more about how we can help you, we invite you to explore our site and don't hesitate to call us for more information. When you join us, together we can make Wyoming.a better place work and raise a family,
